library w*rks

*doing collective bibliography

at the University of the Arts Braunschweig (HBK Braunschweig)

is a research project surrounding one of Lisa’s favorite topics: libraries.
The project is simultaneously facilitated as part of Lisa’s interims professorship at University of the Arts Braunschweig and as independent research project connecting a group of international researchers and design publication enthusiasts.

library w*rks invites you to explore, question and rethink the current collection of design related resources of your institution’s library. Who can be found on the shelves and who can not? Which stories are told and which are not? Which protagonists are represented and which are not? We will trace the library collection’s blindspots from intersectional-feminist perspectives and develop concrete proposals for a more diverse, just and multi-perspective library.
If you are a student, teacher or staff at HBK Braunschweig:
Kick-off: Tues, 4/26, 2 p.m., in the foyer in front of the library entrance
→ 2-weekly meetings thereafter, Tuesdays, 2 p.m.
Register until 24.4. by mail to l.baumgarten[at]

Offered by Lisa Baumgarten (Verwalterin der  Professur Designwissenschaft), this university-wide research project is inviting participants to research, document, and conceptualise together. Until the end of the summer semester 2022, concrete proposals will be developed and subsequently published for the Rundgang 2022 (whereby publishing is to be understood in the broadest sense).

If you are an independent researcher, designer, teacher or else and would like to participate here is what you need for it:
(1) Access to your institution’s library. This project is concerned with design related resources – but feel free to expand/bend/twist the term „design“ to your liking. If you are not affiliated with an institution, this project works with any public library, bookstore with a design section or even your own private book collection.
(2) the desire to share your findings amongst a group of fellow researchers
(3) some time and enthusiasm to think along and conceptualize ideas how to publish our findings around August 2022

Kick-off: Thur, 21.4., 6PM (CET), monthly digital meetings thereafter, every first Thursday of the month, 6PM (CET)
Sign up until 20.4. by mail to hallo[at]
